Seattle is so very.
Move over Sleepless in Seattle and Nirvana. Seattle’s having a bit of a renaissance in the national spotlight these days (burlesquers Ruby Mimosa/Tanya Harris and Jamie Von Stratton performing with Macklemore, anyone? Mary Lambert singing alongside Madonna at the Grammys??) and as one might expect, some faces from local burlesque, boylesque, drag, music, and film circles are turning up in unexpected places. Filmmaker Wes Hurley – who we’re proud to say blogs for The Huffington Post in his increasingly limited free time – has recently released the first episode of his much-anticipated lighthearted comedy series Capitol Hill to the world wide web. Starring Waxie Moon as a Portland ex-pat looking to start a new life in the big city, the first installment features many familiar faces from Seattle burlesque including a barely recognizable Miss Indigo Blue (as “Poops”), Jesse Belle-Jones (as what else? a mime), and the whole shebang is presented by local gal and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 star, BenDeLaCreme.. Will Hallauer of local band The Little Penguins did the song for the mind-bendingly weird trailer…see how many more famous local faces you can spot in short order here:
And if you have less than ten minutes to spare…see how the story begins here:
Stay tuned for episode 2…

In other news, we’re super happy that our kindred spirit lady-bloggers over at The Lingerie Addict recently got a shout out online from Dita Von Teese herself. “I’m a big fan of this site, thought I would share this,” Dita posted on Friday on Facebook, when columnist Marianne reviewed a few pieces from Dita’s Von Follies collection. The Dita Von Teese Lingerie Collection is now officially in U.S. stores (exclusively available at select Bloomingdale’s locations and online at Bloomingdales.com). Check out Marianne’s article OVER HERE.
