For the boys.

Mod Carousel and its individual super-studs The Luminous Pariah, Paris Original, and Trojan Original absolutely rocked the 1st Annual New York Boylesque Festival last weekend. Seattle burlesque is world-renowned; it could be that the second half of 2012 (and perhaps 2013?) will belong to the boys. Next up, Mod Carousel Presents: WHAM! BAM! KABOOM! at London’s Brick House (May 8 – June 16); in other exotic locales, Wes Hurley’s film “Waxie Moon in Fallen Jewel” has been accepted into both the Tel Aviv LGBT Film Festival and Glasgay, the largest LGBT festival in the UK (held in Glasgow, Scotland). Cherished boylesque performer/performance mentor Waxie Moon was about the only Seattle star missing from an otherwise delectable lineup at the New York Boylesque Festival. The following collage from the Saturday night show provides a mere peek at what went down- our local heroes pop up throughout, Jonny Porkpie (at 3:32) scores for originality…and Tigger! gets all up in your face with his mesmerizing “Spirit In The Sky” number at the end. Too many sizzling moments to mention. Watch it.

(This clip features in order: Mr. Gorgeous, Mod Carousel, Bastard Keith, Mahogany Storm, Dew Lily, Jonny Porkpie, the’Luminous Pariah, Paris Original, Go-Go Harder, Hot Toddy, Evil Hate Monkey, & Tigger!)

Congrats to all the boylesque performers, as well as to Thirsty Girl Productions and promoter Daniel Nardicio on a successful first year.

This week’s featured performer from the upcoming Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray! Tour is the one and only Dirty Martini.

No one but Dirty (paired with country queen Dolly Parton) could make “God Bless the USA” such a finely nuanced statement piece. Here is Dirty Martini, performing at “The Missy & Leyla Show” (presented by Rhymes with Purple Productions as part of Glasgow Cabaret Festival). Who doesn’t love a scandalous ribbon dance?
