Kittening @ BurlyCon, Sexo y Violencia @ The Showbox

BurlyCon- the annual conference for burlesque performers and superfans- busted its seams this year with 200 attendees. Aspiring showgirls and excitable observers (such as myself) rubbed elbows with um, teaches and peaches.

Speaking of which, here’s a photo of Curator/Co-founder/author and all-around class act Jo Boobs with Twisted Monk, a former stuntman that imparted hair-pulling techniques and groin shot secrets in “Stage Combat” class:

The next few weeks are packed with opportunities to see why Seattle is such a hotbed of burlesque and other outlaw professions. For one thing, HUMP tickets are finally on sale. Go see what filthy minds are filming, get tickets HERE.

This Thursday, Lucha VaVOOM’s cabaret of Mexican luchador wrestling and burlesque pageantry returns to The Showbox at The Market. Some of you may recall the insidious efforts of the Department of Licensing to kill Lucha VaVOOM’s May appearance, classifying the show as “sports entertainment” and forcing the troupe to jump through near-insurmountable, expensive “compliance” hoops one week before the event. No problems are anticipated this time, as the choreographed fight cabaret has had ample time to follow necessary protocol. Halloween Maskerade promises to blow out the usual themes and costumes. Harboring a fantasy of masked wrestlers flanked by pretty ladies? Click HERE.
