Through the Looking Glass: The Burlesque Alice in Wonderland, Lily Verlaine’s evening-length collaboration with Jasper McCann, wrapped on Saturday after a three night/six show run at the Triple Door. The cast took their bows and Lily and Jasper broke from character for a few moments, stepping towards the audience as the red curtain fell behind them. With microphone in hand, Lily Verlaine the producer had a few announcements to make.

As Miss Verlaine’s production assistant, I am more than aware of Lily’s busy month. With her acceptance into the “Reigning Queen of Burlesque” competition at the Burlesque Hall of Fame weekend in Las Vegas and the Stargazer Gown fundraising project she has tied in, as well as her Francophilic exploration with Kitten La Rue and Olivier Wevers La Danse! Le Burlesque! L’Edition Francaise! at the Triple Door May 26-28, the producer- and the performer- has quite the full plate. In addition to these larger productions, Miss Verlaine recently confirmed dates for the first 2011 installment of her late night burlesque and variety revue Nightcap.

The Emerald City is blessed with some of the finest performers in the business. Three of them will be joining Lily Verlaine on stage this Friday and Saturday for an 11pm show at the Triple Door. Having recently returned from the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, “striptease virtuoso” Catherine D’Lish will be gracing the stage with, from what I hear, some very large props. A living legend and one of the most intoxicating ecdysiasts I have seen to date, she performs in Seattle so infrequently, it is quite the treat to have the opportunity to see her two nights in a row with such an affordable ticket.

Joining Ms. D’Lish is the one and only “gender-bending queer boylesque sensation” Miss(ter) Waxie Moon and, back from a recent tour of Europe, Seattle’s aerial pioneer Tamara the Trapeze Lady. The evening will be hosted by crooner Jasper McCann.
